Behind Tara's Mind
A Little About Me
My background is in fashion design and modeling/acting, but I left the industry to focus more on bettering my mental health. I moved from NJ/NY to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and work as a pharmacy technician currently. I believe medicine to be a life saver, because well it saved mine. My current IG is centered around exploration, lifestyle, and mental health. It’s a mix of uplifting inspiration as well as the deeper reality of what it’s like to live with a mental illness.
“It was the beginning of my mental health journey, I remember I was in the shower crouched on the bathtub floor crying uncontrollably. I yelled for my mom to come. The shower was still on and I was sobbing so hard that I’m sure she could barely understand me, but I remember saying that I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t take how I was feeling, like the world was no longer mine and little by lots I was falling apart. I was feeling extremely low, helpless, and scared. Of course I didn’t iterate all of that at the time, so after saying none of that, she begged me to tell her what was going on. I told her I was extremely depressed and that I was already on an antidepressant.
Keeping secrets in fear of stigma is completely legit when you’re battling a mental illness, but alone is never the way. It only helps to have people in your life who support you surround you, and the more they know the more they can help. Today I not only have my mom, but also other family members, friends, doctors, and like-minded human beings that support me. Today I am not alone. I share this story as a little reminder to all those fighting that it’s okay to fight in the open. Remember you are strong and you are loved.”
